Smothered Pork Chops with Potatoes in Gravy

 

 

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Brown the pork chops

  • Season pork chops with salt, pepper, and paprika.

  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  • Sear pork chops for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.

  • Remove and set aside.

2️⃣ Make the gravy base

  • In the same skillet, add sliced onion and cook until soft.

  • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

  • Sprinkle in flour and stir well for about 1 minute.

3️⃣ Prepare the gravy

  • Slowly pour in broth while stirring to avoid lumps.

  • Add thyme and heavy cream if using.

  • Simmer until the gravy thickens.

4️⃣ Final cooking

  • Add sliced potatoes to the gravy.

  • Place pork chops on top.

  • Cover and simmer on low heat for 25–30 minutes, until potatoes are tender and pork chops are juicy.

  • Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or a little mustard for extra flavor.

  • Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.
