1. Caramelize the onions:
β’ Heat a pan over medium heat with a little oil and butter.
β’ Add the onions and cook gently for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown and soft. Season lightly with salt.
2. Cook the meat:
β’ Form thin patties the same size as the bread.
β’ Cook them in a hot pan for 3 to 4 minutes per side.
β’ Season with salt and pepper.
3. Assemble the sandwich:
β’ On one slice of bread, place a slice of cheese, then the patty, the caramelized onions, another slice of cheese, and finally the second slice of bread.
4. Grill the sandwich:
β’ Lightly butter the outside of the bread.
β’ Grill in a pan over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted.
