Instructions

  1. Activate the dough
    In a large bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until slightly foamy.

  2. Mix
    Add egg, flour, and salt. Mix until a rough dough forms.

  3. Knead
    Knead 8–10 minutes (by hand or mixer). Add butter gradually and keep kneading until the dough is smooth, elastic, and slightly sticky.

  4. First rise
    Cover and let rise in a warm place 1–1Β½ hours, until doubled in size.

  5. Shape
    Divide dough into equal balls. Arrange them snugly in a buttered baking dish (they should touch).

  6. Second rise
    Cover and let rise again 30–40 minutes until puffy.

  7. Bake
    Brush with egg yolk + milk.
    Bake at 170Β°C (340Β°F) for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.

  8. Finish
    Brush with melted butter for extra softness ✨
