Activate the dough
In a large bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until slightly foamy. -
Mix
Add egg, flour, and salt. Mix until a rough dough forms. -
Knead
Knead 8β10 minutes (by hand or mixer). Add butter gradually and keep kneading until the dough is smooth, elastic, and slightly sticky. -
First rise
Cover and let rise in a warm place 1β1Β½ hours, until doubled in size. -
Shape
Divide dough into equal balls. Arrange them snugly in a buttered baking dish (they should touch). -
Second rise
Cover and let rise again 30β40 minutes until puffy. -
Bake
Brush with egg yolk + milk.
Bake at 170Β°C (340Β°F) for 25β30 minutes, until golden brown. -
Finish
Brush with melted butter for extra softness β¨
