Cheese, Ham & Mushroom Puff Pastry Roll

 

 

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. Sauté mushrooms
    Heat oil or butter in a pan, add onion (if using) and mushrooms.
    Cook until moisture evaporates. Season with salt, pepper, and herbs. Let cool.

  3. Prepare pastry
    Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.

  4. Fill
    Spread mushrooms evenly over the pastry, leaving a 2 cm border.
    Add ham, then sprinkle cheese on top.

  5. Roll
    Roll tightly into a log. Seal the edge with a little beaten egg.

  6. Egg wash
    Place seam-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
    Brush with beaten egg.

  7. Bake
    Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden and puffed.

  8. Rest & slice
    Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.

Tips

  • Let the mushroom mixture cool to avoid soggy pastry.

  • For extra flavor, add a spoon of cream cheese or mustard before rolling.

  • Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top before baking.

Variations

  • Extra cheesy: add cream cheese or ricotta

  • Vegetarian: skip ham, add spinach

  • Spicy: add chili flakes or Dijon mustard
